Erin Gilmore is an accomplished dramatic soprano with a dynamic career in opera and musical theater, celebrated for her captivating performances and artistic versatility. A graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a Master’s in Musicology and a Master’s in Vocal Performance from Emporia State University, Erin has brought to life a wide array of characters on stage. Her standout performances include roles such as La Badessa in Suor Angelica with Opera on Tap KC, La Gioconda in La Gioconda with The American Opera Studio, Miss Jessel in Turn of the Screw with Red River Lyric Opera, and La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi. She has also tackled challenging Wagnerian roles, including Ortlinde in Die Walküre, Isolde in Tristan und Isolde and Senta in Der fliegende Holländer

Beyond her own performances, Erin is deeply committed to the development and promotion of the arts. She has served as Musical Director for productions such as Chess: A Musical with Bob Stewart and Lindsay Day, and has lent her expertise as a vocal coach for A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder with Faust Theater. Additionally, she serves on the board of The American Opera Studio, Inc. Her leadership in these roles has contributed to the growth of local performing arts scenes, particularly in the Kansas City area.

As a researcher and educator, Erin’s contributions extend beyond performance. Her musicological work, including her thesis on Anna Held, Lillian Russell, and Alice Nielsen, reflects her deep interest in the intersection of theater and gender at the turn of the 20th century. This academic insight informs her artistic approach, adding depth to her portrayals on stage.
